Three Things to Consider When you Reopen your Business


As the stay-at-home orders begin to lift, both customers and employees may feel anxious about returning to their regular routines. It is going to take everyone some time to adjust to the new normal. Here are a few things that you can do to help those around you have peace-of-mind:

1. Communicate, communicate, communicate. These days stress is at an all-time high, and it's more important than ever to communicate what you are doing. Stay proactive and address the questions that you know people may have for your business. If you have a smaller lobby, you should limit the number of appointments or people you allow during a given time. Let customers know that they may experience longer wait times using print and electronic communications. It will help them feel reassured and manage their expectations.

2. Use signage to enforce policies and procedures. If your business or organization has regular foot traffic, start thinking where you are going to place visible messages to direct traffic. Consider placing informational signs at the main entrances. Let people know if there is a lobby, they will have to wait in or if they should wear a mask. Figure out what other types of signage might be appropriate, do you need to place physical distance reminders on the floor? There are many creative signage solutions that can work for your business.  

3. Customer service is still a priority. More then ever before, your customers need to feel appreciated. During quarantine, many people shifted to buying online because it was easy and convenient. Help customers have a pleasant and hassle-free experience. Consider adding value by providing customer perks to express gratitude for their business.
